Jennifer Valore

Jen Valore is currently an assistant coach for the University of Michigan’s women’s lacrosse team (www.mgoblue.com).  The program, which will begin varsity competition in 2013-2014, is the first-ever NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse program at Michigan.

Valore’s previous Division I coaching experience spanned two seasons at Temple University (2004-06). During that time the Owls were Atlantic-10 co-champions in 2005 and A-10 Tournament finalists in 2006.

Valore has also spent time in collegiate athletic administration and upon graduation from James Madison University (2000) has remained active in coaching having served as instructor and coach for numerous camps, clinics and youth lacrosse teams. Most recently, Valore assumed the position of head coach for the Katz JCC women’s lacrosse teams of the Maccabi Games (2010-2011), leading her team to a gold medal in the Games’ inaugural lacrosse tournament.

Prior to her hiring as assistant lacrosse coach at Michigan, Valore spent the past five years involved in coaching education while working within the sport management department at Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA) where she put her skills to practice as a program administrator and adjunct instructor for both the undergraduate and graduate programs.  During her time at Drexel, Valore helped develop the Drexel Sports Leadership Academy (DSLA) which uses sport as the vehicle to teach leadership principles to athletes and coaches.  She implemented several programs within the DLSA including “Coaching the Coaches,” “Coaching Your Kids” and “Competing with Character.”

Valore graduated from James Madison University in 2000 (B.S., Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Management) where she was a four-year starter for the Dukes’ NCAA Division I lacrosse team (1997-2000) and captained the 2000 squad that reached the Final Four.  She went on to earn an M.S. in Communications from Drexel University while working in the Drexel Athletic Department as a graduate assistant in the sports information office.

Valore comes from a family of coaches as her father, John Valore, spent 35 years as a head basketball coach at Cherry Hill East High school and her brother, J.C., is currently the head lacrosse coach for St. Augustine Prep in N.J.
