Jane Allen | Women in Coaching

Jane Allen

Jane Allen is currently in her eighth year at Chatham Hall, an all-girls college preparatory school in Chatham, Virginia.  She is the Assistant Athletic Director, the Athletic Trainer, and coaches three sports (field hockey, basketball, and tennis) each year.  She also rounds out her duties as the Assistant Head of Residence and the Director of On-Campus Activities.  Jane has been recognized by her peers in garnering the Blue Ridge Conference’s Coach of the Year Award for tennis four times.

Jane is currently in her second year of Drexel University’s M.S. in Sport Management program.  She is a 2004 graduate of Appalachian State University, where she earned her B.S. in Athletic Training and minored in General Business.  During her time at Appalachian State, Jane worked as a Student Athletic Trainer with several teams including football, cheerleading, track and field, women’s soccer, and softball.  Not only did her time with these teams afford her insight into another side of sports, it also allowed her time to watch and learn from various coaches.

Jane graduated from Chatham Hall in 2000, where she was a three sport athlete competing in field hockey, basketball, and tennis.  It is fitting that she has returned to her alma mater to continue her career in athletics as this place helped to mold her into the athlete, coach, and person she is today.
