Cecile Reynaud

Cecile Reynaud was the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Florida State University from 1976-2001 where her teams won seven conference titles and appeared in 13 National Championship Tournaments. During her 26-year collegiate coaching career her teams won over 635 matches and she was named conference coach of the year 4 times. Reynaud has international experience in volleyball serving as an Assistant Coach for the USA World University Games Team, as the Head Coach of the USA Junior National Team, and the USA High Performance Continental Teams. She also held the position of Deputy Competition Manager for Volleyball at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. She will be serving as the Team Leader (Head of Delegation) for the USA Women’s Sitting Volleyball team at the 2012 Paralympic Games. She has served on the USA Volleyball Board of Directors & Executive Committee, and is a past president of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. She is currently serving on that board as the Education and Publications committee chair. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1975 and received her master’s degree from Florida State University in 1979. She earned her doctorate at Florida State University in Sport Management in 1998.

Reynaud is a USA Volleyball certified clinician and continues to speak at numerous coaching clinics around the country. She also speaks at the annual NCAA Women Coaches Academies and has spoken at the NACWAA Institutes for female athletic administrators on topics such as conflict resolution and team building. She emcees banquets annually to recognize the AVCA All Americans, AVCA Coach of the Year Luncheon, and the USA Volleyball Annual Dorothy Boyce Banquet. She serves as a color commentator for Fox Sports broadcasting volleyball matches during the fall. Reynaud has published several books including the Volleyball Coaching Bible, She Can Coach!, 101 Winning Volleyball Drills and Volleyball Technical & Tactical Skills. She has also produced a DVD series on various volleyball topics and drills. She developed and directs an online graduate level Coaching Certificate program offered at Florida State University consisting of four courses: Advanced Coaching, Athlete Recruitment, Motor Learning for Coaches and Sport Psychology for Coaches.

As a faculty member Reynaud advises the master’s students in the Sport Management program and teaches graduate classes in a variety of areas – Facility and Events, Diversity in Sport, Athletic Administration, Advanced Coaching, Sport Governance, Motor Learning for Coaches and Athlete Recruitment.
Reynaud has been inducted into the Webster Groves High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Southwest Missouri State University Athletic Hall of Fame, FSU Athletic Hall of Fame and the USA Volleyball Florida Region Hall of Fame.
Dr. Reynaud has served as the President of the Board of Directors for the Refuge House in Tallahassee, Florida which is the domestic and sexual violence center. She is currently chairing a USA Volleyball Commission on Participant Safety to protect athletes from sexual abuse and is a member of the Side-Out Foundation Board of Directors.
